Joe Montana was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs on April 20, 1993, for the Chiefs first round draft pick (18th overall) in the 1993 NFL draft and he subsequently signed a $10 million contract for three years. Montana was injured for part of the 1993 season but was still selected to his final Pro Bowl, as the Chiefs won their division for the first time in 22 years.
